Germans were everywhere in Albany. There were German bakeries, saloons, churches, markets, and farms growing cabbages. German language newspapers, German singing societies and social clubs, and even a German gun club. All of that is gone now, forgotten or Anglicized. But one piece of old German-Albany lives.
